Erika Bloomdahl is a cartoonist, illustrator, and designer from Minneapolis Minnesota, and a Co-Founder of Slap Happy Studios. Their work is detail oriented and combines personal experience with the political, fantastical, and historical. Erika has expertise in many mediums and crafts, including acrylic gouache, colored pencil, graphite, markers, ink, screen-printing, relief printing, block printing, bookbinding, embroidery, beading, sewing, and puppetry. 

She has a Master of Fine Arts in Applied Cartooning from Center for Cartoon Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Art, and Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota. 

Their art has been featured in the annual University of Minnesota Literary Arts Magazine, Ivory Tower in the 2016-2017 edition, as cover art for the podcast All My Fantasy Children, and at the Minnesota Roller Derby Turning the Tides Bout. You can find copies of Erika’s comics in the Hennepin County Library Zine collection and the Small Press Expo collection at the Library of Congress. 

When Erika is not engaging in the arts she can be found wistfully thinking about future cats, walkable cities, and public transit.
